SCORE Helps Veterans’ Small Businesses Succeed
New Program offers free classes to veterans and their spouses

Spokane, WA – SCORE, America’s premier source of free and confidential small business advice for entrepreneurs, is providing free workshops and other resources to area Veterans under the “Veterans Fast Launch” initiative.  The program aims to ease the transition for veterans returning home from service abroad.  According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Veterans have a higher unemployment rate than the overall US population, 11.7% vs. 9.1% for non-veterans, and the rate for those returning from Iran and Afghanistan is even higher – 15.2%. Through Veterans Fast Launch, veterans can receive free mentoring from SCORE, up to $125 in credit to attend SCORE workshops, and they are eligible for software and other services from other partners in the program.

SCORE Chapter Dave McKenzie says, “We have an obligation to offer our Veterans every opportunity to reach their goals because of their service in support of country. SCORE’s Veterans Fast Launch program provides Vets the information and education they need to successfully start and grow a small business.”McKenzie adds, “We sincerely appreciate the sacrifice made by our veterans and their families, and want them to succeed.”

Veterans or their spouses can sign up for a workshop online, and select the “pay at the door option. They can register for VetsFastLaunch at the first workshop, or sign up ahead of time at, print the coupon received at sign up, and bring it to the first workshop they attend.
